Maize RD 4202

Leveraging Russian Breeding: The RD 4202 Hybrid

In a market segment dominated by multinational corporations, RD 4202 serves as a robust example of the Russian breeding tradition. Developed by experts at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Corn (VNII Kukuruzy), under the leadership of Yury Sotchenko and Anna Gorbacheva, this hybrid is the culmination of extensive work focused on adapting corn to diverse and challenging climatic conditions.

Agronomic Profile

RD 4202 is positioned as a reliable solution for producers prioritizing consistency. The breeders have successfully balanced high yield potential with field resistance to both biotic and abiotic stressors. Unlike intensive imported hybrids that often require near-perfect conditions, RD 4202 demonstrates notable plasticity across different soil and climate zones, making it a predictable choice for both large agricultural holdings and smaller farming enterprises.

Market Positioning

This hybrid addresses the market demand for high-quality domestic seed stocks. Patented by Ooo Sp Ssk Kukuruza, it benefits from strict quality control during seed processing and distribution. RD 4202 typically falls into the mid-season or mid-late maturity segment (depending on the cultivation zone), where key performance indicators include:

• Stand uniformity and synchronized ripening;
• Strong resistance to lodging, which is vital for efficient mechanical harvesting;
• High shelling percentage and grain recovery;
• Optimized moisture release rates, significantly reducing post-harvest drying costs.

RD 4202 is not designed to break records in extreme high-input environments; instead, its primary value lies in risk mitigation during seasons with erratic weather. It serves as a dependable workhorse for growers who value the stability and site-specific adaptation offered by the Russian scientific school.
