Swallow is a variety of soft winter wheat belonging to a group of relatively hardy and high-yielding crops. It is characterized by a medium-early maturity period with a vegetative period of about 275-278 days and a medium-height plant type with a height of 111-124 cm. The ear is white in color, 11-12 cm long, with grains of oval shape and red color, with a mass of 1000 grains ranging from 34 to 46 grams. The variety has a high yield potential, reaching 7.84 t/ha, which makes it attractive for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-steppe zones, as well as in the Southern foothill zone of Krasnodar Krai. Swallow is distinguished by comprehensive resistance to a range of diseases, including high resistance to yellow rust, moderate susceptibility to brown rust and septoria, as well as susceptibility to covered smut, powdery mildew, and head fusarium. The variety has good resistance to lodging and drought, although winter hardiness is slightly lower than the standard. Thanks to these characteristics, Swallow adapts well to ecologically clean technologies, including organic farming, and demonstrates increased competitiveness in the biocenosis with weeds. The grain of the Swallow variety is distinguished by high baking qualities with gluten content of 30-34% and raw protein of 13.3-14.2%. Flour made from this grain is used for baking bread, as well as for the production of confectionery and pasta products. In addition, the variety finds application in the food industry, in particular in recipes for the preparation of vodka and beer, which underscores its versatility and high quality.
