Wheat Liga Odeska

Genetic Architecture and Yield Potential

"Liga Odeska" represents a culmination of breeding efforts by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (NCSS, Ukraine). The variety is engineered for precision farming, combining semi-dwarf architecture with robust environmental plasticity, making it a reliable solution for high-yield winter wheat production.

Technical Specifications and Morphology

The variety features a plant height of 70–80 cm, providing significant lodging resistance—a critical attribute for fields treated with high-nitrogen inputs. By optimizing the plant's structural energy allocation, "Liga Odeska" maximizes the accumulation of nutrients in the grain rather than the vegetative mass.

• Grain Quality: Gluten content ranges from 25–30%, classifying it as a high-quality soft wheat suitable for industrial milling.
• Yield Components: With a 1000-kernel weight of 40–45 g, the variety demonstrates excellent filling capacity and consistent kernel size.

Integrated Disease Resilience

The genetic makeup of this variety includes built-in resistance to primary pathogens, significantly lowering the pressure on chemical crop protection programs:

• High resistance to yellow and brown rust prevents premature degradation of the leaf apparatus.
• Effective tolerance against powdery mildew and septoria preserves the photosynthetic surface during the crucial grain-filling stage.
• Resistance to fusarium head blight minimizes the risk of mycotoxin accumulation, meeting stringent grain quality standards.

With a vegetation period of 270–280 days and a potential yield of 8–9 tons per hectare, "Liga Odeska" is engineered for agronomists who prioritize stability, consistency, and top-tier milling performance.
