Soft winter wheat Kharkiv 92 is a medium-early variety created based on an interspecific hybrid combination involving the Kharkiv 12 variety and the selection line of durum wheat 89-752. The plants are medium-height, reaching about 90 cm, with a white spikelike ear of medium density. The variety is characterized by lodging resistance and is adapted for cultivation in various climatic conditions in Russia, including areas with high and medium agro-ecological zones.
Kharkiv 92 is distinguished by high resistance to major wheat diseases, such as brown rust, Septoria, powdery mildew, and loose smut, as well as enhanced frost and drought tolerance. The vegetation period is medium, slightly shorter than the standard, which allows for effective use under various agro-technical conditions. The recommended sowing rate is 4.5-5.0 million viable seeds per hectare, with the possibility of late sowing dates.
The variety yields about 3.5 tons per hectare, and the grain features high quality indicators. The weight of a thousand grains varies from 38 to 46 grams, crude gluten content reaches 35%, and flour strength is 249 условные единицы (cond. units). These characteristics provide excellent milling and baking properties, making Kharkiv 92 in demand for flour and bakery product production. The variety also possesses good pasta-making qualities, expanding its application possibilities in the food industry.
