NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 3 — a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety characterized by a medium-early maturity period and medium-height plant type. The plant is semi-upright, with heights ranging from 64 to 98 cm. The ear is cylindrical, white in color, and short to medium length. Waxy coating on the upper internode is expressed from medium to strong, while on the ear it is weak. The variety possesses lodging resistance, which is slightly higher compared to the Novosibirskaya 32 variety, as well as moderate drought resistance at the standard level. Winter hardiness is high, making it suitable for cultivation in various zones of the Novosibirsk region, including the lowland and foothill subtiga, as well as the northern forest-steppe. The yield of the variety is on average 32.1–35.1 c/ha, indicating its high productivity. The mass of 1000 grains falls within the range of 36–47 g, while grain naturalness reaches 766 g/L. Protein content in the grain can reach 20%, and raw gluten up to 30.2–40%, ensuring good and even excellent baking qualities. The variety is distinguished by strong wheat with baking properties at the level of a good filler, making it in demand for the production of high-quality flour. NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 3 has moderate susceptibility to diseases such as brown rust and septoria, as well as moderate infection by snow mold and powdery mildew. Overall, the variety demonstrates resistance to lodging and winter hardiness, which contributes to a stable harvest in the conditions of the Novosibirsk region. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptation to regional conditions, this variety is recommended for widespread cultivation in the indicated zones, ensuring grain reliability and quality.
