Maximizing Durum Wheat Yields: The Khugardo Advantage

In the competitive landscape of cereal production, the choice of variety is the primary determinant of end-product quality. Saaten-Union introduces «Khugardo», a winter durum wheat variety developed to meet the rigorous demands of the pasta industry. By focusing on high vitreousness and superior protein quality, this variety is engineered for farmers who prioritize consistency and marketability.

Agronomic Management and Field Performance

The practical application of «Khugardo» requires an intensive management strategy to fully leverage its genetic potential. For successful cultivation, agronomists should focus on the following pillars:

• Crop Nutrition: As a durum variety, «Khugardo» shows excellent responsiveness to split-nitrogen applications. This allows for precise protein management, ensuring the crop meets the premium milling standards.
• Disease Management: Protecting the flag leaf is essential. A robust fungicide program during the critical growth stages preserves grain weight and maintains the specific starch structure required by processors.
• Adaptability: Bred by Saaten-Union, the variety features strong winter hardiness, allowing it to withstand seasonal temperature fluctuations while maintaining plant density throughout the winter.

For operations aiming to secure premium pricing in the grains market, «Khugardo» offers a reliable route to high-quality yield. Its development reflects German breeding standards, emphasizing both resilience in the field and technical performance during milling. Integrating this variety into your rotation is a strategic move for producers looking to optimize land use for specialized, high-value markets.
