Wheat Hylux

German precision in wheat breeding: The «Hylux» advantage

«Hylux» wheat, developed by the renowned German breeder Saaten-Union, represents a balanced solution for modern, high-intensity cereal production. In an era where input costs are rising, «Hylux» stands out by offering a unique combination of high yield potential and a robust biological defense system, reducing the reliance on aggressive fungicide applications.

Built-in resilience

What sets «Hylux» apart from standard varieties is its superior physiological resistance to common pathogens. The breeding focus was on creating a plant that could withstand the typical stress factors of European and continental climates:

• Outstanding resistance to brown rust and powdery mildew;
• Strong tolerance to septoria, ensuring leaf health is maintained throughout the critical grain-filling period;
• Proven resilience against fusarium head blight, essential for maintaining high-quality, toxin-free grain yields.

Beyond disease resistance, the plant architecture is engineered for success. «Hylux» demonstrates excellent lodging resistance. This structural integrity allows the crop to support heavier grain yields and respond effectively to intensive nitrogen fertilization programs without the risk of collapsing, even under heavy rains or wind.

Is this variety right for your farm?

«Hylux» is an ideal match for growers utilizing high-intensity management practices. It provides a safety net against unpredictable weather-driven disease outbreaks, allowing for a more flexible spray schedule. While the variety is robust, its genetic potential is maximized when provided with optimal soil preparation and a consistent crop rotation strategy. It is not just a high-yielding wheat; it is a reliable performance partner for agronomists focused on quality and consistency.
