Wheat Kharkivskaya 27

Stability in Arid Conditions

The «Kharkivska 27» spring wheat variety, developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, is a staple of Ukrainian agriculture. Unlike high-input Western hybrids that require precise nutrient management and optimal irrigation, this variety is prized for its plasticity and ability to perform consistently in the varying climatic conditions of the steppe and forest-steppe zones.

Natural Phytosanitary Resistance

A key advantage of Kharkivska 27 is its robust genetic resistance to major fungal pathogens, particularly brown rust and powdery mildew. This built-in protection is a major cost-saving factor, allowing growers to reduce fungicide applications and keep production costs manageable, especially in resource-efficient farming systems.

Performance and Strategy

• Strengths: Excellent productive tillering and high grain quality suitable for the milling industry. Its performance during short-term soil droughts sets it apart from more demanding imported varieties.
• Cultivation Tips: To maximize yield potential, adhering to early sowing dates is critical. This allows the plants to capitalize on early spring moisture before the onset of summer heat.

This variety is an optimal solution for agricultural enterprises seeking a stable, predictable yield without the necessity of intensive, high-cost chemical applications.
