Maize RV 442

Betting on high-quality silage

When you are filling a silage bunker, the last thing you want is a lottery regarding feed quality. The RVI 442 hybrid from Limagrain is a classic French solution for those focused on professional livestock farming.

Field performance and feed value

• Mass potential: This hybrid forms a robust foliage system, which is critical for silage volume. Even with moderate fertilizer application, it consistently hits the targeted tonnage.
• Harvesting and machinery: The stalk is sturdy and not prone to lodging, allowing the harvester to run at optimal speeds without significant loss. The chopper works cleanly, resulting in a uniform chop length that simplifies packing in the pit.
• Feed value: The main priority for animal nutritionists is fiber digestibility. RVI 442 shows excellent results in starch content, making this diet much more effective for milk production and weight gain.

Crop management is standard for Limagrain — there is no specific requirement for unique chemical treatments. The hybrid is stable and handles temperature fluctuations characteristic of our climate well. It is easy to handle because it offers a wide harvesting window; there is no need to rush if the weather forces a change in the schedule. At the end of the season, this is a choice for consistent production results rather than trying to save a few cents on seed costs.
