Maize RV 589

French breeding for early harvest

RVI 589 from the French giant Limagrain is a solution for farmers aimed at achieving high-quality grain within tight agronomic deadlines. The hybrid belongs to the early-ripening group, making it a strategic asset for farms operating in regions with short growing seasons or those practicing early harvesting to clear fields for winter crops.

Agronomic profile and morphology

A key feature of the model lies in its grain type: the yellow-orange intermediate type combines the advantages of flint and dent maize. This ensures not only high yield potential but also excellent moisture release, which is critical for saving on grain drying costs. Limagrain, as the breeder, has paid special attention to the hybrid's adaptability, allowing it to demonstrate stability even under the stress conditions of an early start.

Role in crop rotation

RVI 589 is a choice for intensive farming technologies. It reaches its full potential when managed at optimal plant densities typical for early hybrids. Thanks to the selective expertise of French agronomists, the plant exhibits resistance to lodging and typical maize pathogens, reducing farmer risk during the ripening phase. This is a classic example of the European approach to plant breeding, where the balance between vegetation speed and physical grain quality is brought to a professional level.
