Wheat variety Granny is a medium-maturing soft spring wheat variety developed by Austrian breeders of SAATBAU LINZ. Plants of this variety are characterized by dwarf stature and a height of about 77-80 cm, with a vegetative period of 80-85 days. The wheat ear is spindle-shaped, loose with medium density, and the grain is colored. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 31 to 47 grams, indicating good grain quality and high yield potential, which on average reaches 33.4 centners per hectare. The Granny variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and drought conditions, making it plastic and adapted to various climatic zones, including the Central Chernozem and Middle Volga regions, as well as the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. In addition, it has good resistance to major diseases such as brown rust and solid smut, which contributes to the stability of the yield even under unfavorable conditions. Baking qualities of Granny wheat are at the level of a good filler, with grain vitreosity of about 55% and protein content within 13.2-15%. These indicators make the variety attractive for use in the baking industry. Thanks to the combination of high yield, stress resistance, and grain quality characteristics, the Granny variety is a reliable choice for agricultural production in the recommended growing regions.
