MARGARITA is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium maturity with a vegetation period of 80-94 days. It was developed by the Ulyanovsk Research Institute of Agriculture and included in the State Register for the Middle Volga region. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ulyanovsk Oblast, and is also suitable for the Volga-Vyatka region. The plant has a semi-erect stem, very weak straw, with a strong waxy coating on the upper internode and the sheath of the flag leaf. The ear is pyramid-shaped with medium density, a rounded shoulder, and a short straight tooth. The grain is colored, with the mass of 1000 grains varying from 33 to 47 grams.
The MARGARITA variety is distinguished by high yield, averaging 22.9 centners per hectare across the region, which exceeds standard indicators by 3 centners per hectare. In the Republic of Tatarstan, yield can reach from 25 to 59 centners per hectare, with a maximum recorded yield of 61.8 centners per hectare. The variety has high resistance to lodging and is moderately drought-resistant. It shows increased responsiveness to the application of mineral fertilizers, which contributes to achieving high productivity indicators.
MARGARITA is resistant to diseases such as bunt and covered bunt, as well as brown rust, although it is susceptible to septoria. The baking qualities of the variety are satisfactory, making it suitable for use in the food industry. Due to the balance of high productivity, disease resistance, and grain quality, this variety is a profitable choice for agricultural production in its zoning areas.
