Wheat Demetra

Proven Selection from the Remeslo Institute

The «Demetra» winter wheat variety, developed by the V.M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat, represents a balanced approach to modern agronomy. Unlike high-input imported hybrids that require near-perfect conditions, Demetra is engineered for the unpredictable climate of Ukraine. It offers a stable performance where other varieties might succumb to temperature stress or poor soil conditions.

Key Specifications and Productivity

• Yield Potential: 7–8 tons per hectare under proper technological management.
• Morphology: Awnless variety, which simplifies harvest and helps minimize grain loss.
• Field Performance: Superior resistance to lodging. This is a critical factor for regions prone to strong winds and heavy late-season rainfall, ensuring the crop remains upright until harvest.

Demetra stands out because of its economic efficiency. It does not demand the extreme, high-cost chemical applications that many premium European cultivars require to reach their full potential. This makes it an ideal choice for farmers seeking high-volume output with manageable investment risks. It is best suited for farms that prioritize consistency over chasing the volatile peak performance of intensive genetics. As a note for growers, this variety is highly responsive to the sowing schedule; strictly adhering to the recommended agronomic calendar is vital for achieving the desired tillering capacity and harvest density.
