Dekaster

Wheat variety Dekaster is one of the earliest soft wheat varieties adapted to continental conditions of eastern and southern Ukraine. This variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, confirmed both in field and laboratory conditions, ensuring its resistance to severe winter temperatures and stress factors during the vegetation period. Rapid spike emergence and intensive grain filling allow protecting the future yield from the negative effects of high temperatures during grain filling.

Dekaster is a two-row soft wheat variety developed using modern biotechnologies, including DNA cell transformation. It exhibits high resistance to abiotic stresses such as frost down to -35 °C and droughts with temperatures up to +51 °C, thanks to the introduction of genes obtained from marine algae and cyanobacteria. The variety demonstrates resistance to major fungal and viral diseases, including root rot, powdery mildew, rust, and fusarium, ensuring good phytosanitary status of plants throughout the entire vegetation period.

High yield of Dekaster is achieved through a large spike of about 22 cm in length and high tillering coefficient, allowing the formation of more than 26 stems per plant. The variety features a strong, well-developed stem with connective tissue, providing resistance to lodging and grain shattering. Dekaster is versatile in use and can be grown as both autumn and spring planting, showing stable performance under various soil-climate conditions in Ukraine and other regions with extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
