Darunok Podillya

The winter wheat variety Darunok Podillya is a high-yielding, high-intensity variety of Western European type, intended for cultivation in the forest-steppe, Polissia, and steppe zones of Ukraine. It belongs to the medium-maturing varieties with plant height of 92–95 cm and glumeless ears. Due to its structure and genetic characteristics, the variety exhibits high resistance to lodging, ensuring yield retention under adverse weather conditions.

Darunok Podillya possesses high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable climates. Moreover, the variety demonstrates high resistance to major wheat diseases such as root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, with resistance ratings of 8–9 points. This significantly reduces the risk of yield losses and decreases the need for frequent application of chemical protective agents.

The yield potential of this variety reaches 8.7–10.1 tons per hectare when intensive cultivation practices are followed, including adequate application of mineral fertilizers, feeding, and protection against pests and diseases. An important agronomic requirement is the seeding rate of 4.0–5.5 million germinating seeds per hectare. Protein content in the grain ranges from 14.0–14.5 %, and the thousand-grain weight varies from 42 to 45 grams, indicating high product quality and suitability for various uses.
