Calixo is a mid-ripening soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety developed by Czech breeders from the company SELGEN A.S. It is characterized by a plastic growth type and short stature, making it suitable for various cultivation technologies, both intensive and extensive. The variety's vegetative period ranges from 83 to 98 days, allowing for the adaptation of sowing dates depending on the region, including the Northwestern, Western Siberian, and Far Eastern regions. The sowing rate is 400–450 pieces per square meter, and early sowing is recommended for the growing region.
The Calixo variety is distinguished by high resistance to major wheat diseases, such as fusarium, yellow rust, and powdery mildew. Additionally, it has medium resistance to septoria and weak resistance to brown rust. Thanks to these qualities, as well as high ear glomeration, the variety demonstrates stable and high yields. The average yield in the Northwestern region is about 30.6 centners per hectare, while maximum figures can reach 67–90.3 centners per hectare under favorable conditions.
Calixo wheat has good baking qualities comparable to the filler level, and the thousand-kernel weight varies from 37 to 43 grams. Protein content in the grain is at an average level, ensuring balanced product quality. The variety is also characterized by compensatory properties and high yield potential, making it an attractive choice for agricultural producers seeking stable and high-quality yields.
