TOBOLESKAYA STEPNAIA

The soft spring wheat variety "Toboleksaya Stepnaiia" is a mid-maturing type with a vegetation period ranging from 78 to 95 days. It was developed through interspecific hybridization of the Altai 50 and Altai 60 varieties, followed by three-fold individual selection. The plant is medium-sized, with a semi-erect bush and weak straw, which affects its lodging resistance, which is slightly lower than the Altai 100 standard. The ear is pyramidal, medium density, white in color with long awn-like appendages, and the 1000-grain mass varies from 32 to 39 grams. The variety belongs to the lutenscence type and is characterized by a strong waxy coating on the ear and upper internode of the straw.

"Toboleksaya Stepnaiia" is distinguished by good drought resistance and moderate responsiveness to favorable agroecological conditions, making it particularly valuable for areas with insufficient moisture and for sowing on low-yielding agronomic backgrounds. The yield of the variety in the West Siberian region averages about 21-22 centners/ha, while maximum indicators reached 51-54 centners/ha in favorable years. The variety exceeds standards in yield depending on the predecessor and growing conditions, confirming its stability and productivity.

In terms of disease resistance, "Toboleksaya Stepnaiia" is moderately resistant to powdery head smut but susceptible to root rots, brown rust, and powdery mildew. Baking and milling qualities of the variety are rated as good, making it attractive for use in the baking industry. It is recommended for cultivation in the Foremountain zone of the Altai Krai and other regions of West Siberia, where it successfully adapts and shows high productivity.
