Burshtin

Wheat variety Burshytin is a high-quality grain variety recommended for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. This mid-early variety has a vegetation period of 273 to 290 days and belongs to the short-stem type with plant height of 95–105 cm. Burshytin is distinguished by high yield — the average yield in competitive trials reached 6.85 t/ha, and in some cases, yield can reach 9.2 t/ha. The variety exhibits high resistance to grain shattering and good resistance to common diseases such as septoria, various types of scab, powdery mildew, and rust. The wheat grains of Burshytin are large and high-quality, meeting the requirements of the standard for high-grade hard wheat. Grain density ranges from 795–826 g/l, and the thousand-grain weight is 43.1–47.2 g. Protein content is in the range of 13.5–16.1%, and gluten content — 29.4–33.9%, which ensures a high rating for pasta products made from this wheat, rated at 4.5–5.0 points. Due to these characteristics, the Burshytin variety is widely used for producing pasta and other high-quality food products. Additionally, Burshytin wheat is used as feed grain in animal husbandry. It contains a high level of protein (11–15%), B and E vitamins, as well as essential microelements such as lysine and phosphorus, making it nutritious and beneficial for animal feeding. The moisture content of the grain does not exceed 15%, which meets the requirements for quality feed wheat. This versatile variety allows efficient use in both food industry and compound feed production.
