Description BURLAK
Soft spring wheat of the Burlak variety is a medium-maturing and medium-height variety intended for cultivation in the Central region of Russia, in particular in the Ivanovo region. The vegetative period lasts from 84 to 103 days, which ensures timely grain maturation. The plant is characterized by a semi-upright bush with a cylindrical ear of medium density and white coloration. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 37 to 46 grams, indicating good seed quality. The stem is weakly developed, with a strong waxy coating on the ear and upper node, which contributes to resistance to adverse weather conditions. The Burlak variety is characterized by good yield: the average yield in the Central region is 33.6 centners per hectare, and the maximum recorded yield reached 62.5 centners per hectare. Compared to the reference variety KVS Torridon, Burlak shows a yield increase in the Ivanovo region at the level of 5.1 centners per hectare. Despite high productivity, the variety is somewhat inferior to the standard in terms of lodging resistance and shows strong susceptibility to powdery bunt and brown rust. At the same time, it is moderately resistant to hard bunt and is weakly affected by powdery mildew in field conditions. The bread-making qualities of the Burlak variety are rated as satisfactory filler, which makes it suitable for use in the baking industry. Thanks to its adaptation to various climatic conditions and resistance to a number of diseases, this variety is widely used in agronomic practice for sowing and growing in farms and agro-industrial complexes. The variety's breeding was carried out by the Samara Federal Research Center of the RAS, which confirms its scientific justification and quality.
