Wheat Basilio

Stable Yields with French Genetics

The «Basilio» wheat variety from the breeding house Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils is designed for farms focused on intensive production and consistency in challenging climate conditions. Thanks to superior French genetics, this variety shows high adaptability, which is crucial for successful crop rotation planning and optimizing cost-per-hectare efficiency.

Field Performance and Agronomic Data

The primary advantage of this variety is its balance between winter hardiness (rated 7 to 9) and lodging resistance. Under conditions of spring waterlogging or high wind, the variety stands firm, facilitating easier combine operation and minimizing harvest losses. The plant height (ranging from 40 to 60 cm depending on field conditions) makes it highly suitable for modern, intensive cultivation practices.

• Seeding Density: The optimal target is 4.0–4.5 million productive stems per hectare, ensuring a dense and highly productive stand.
• Yield Potential: Depending on input intensity and fertilizer management, the variety is capable of producing between 7 and 10 metric tons per hectare.
• Growing Season: Spanning 80–100 days, it offers significant flexibility in planting and harvesting windows, allowing for efficient machinery deployment across fields.

Practical Application for Farming

Agronomists select «Basilio» primarily for farms with high soil management standards. The variety is highly responsive to micronutrient applications and precise density management. Due to its excellent lodging resistance, it is an ideal choice for operations that rely on nitrogen fertilizers to boost yield—the risk of crop lodging under intensive fertilization is kept to an absolute minimum. It serves as a reliable tool for high-quality grain production, offering a buffer against minor management errors due to the strong genetic potential of the Florimond-Desprez brand.
