The vegetable pea variety First-Born is an ultra-early, sweet variety with soft, tender, and sweet grains. The plant is vigorous and climbing, reaching heights from 90 to 120 centimeters and requiring mandatory tying to supports for proper growth. Pods are green, straight or slightly curved, with a blunt tip, medium length and width, lack a parchment layer, which facilitates their consumption and processing.
The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 0.5 kilograms per square meter at technical maturity. Peas can be consumed together with pods in an immature state, making them a universal product for fresh consumption, canning, and preparing various culinary dishes. Thanks to uniform ripening of the crop, the variety allows obtaining quality fruits over a short period.
Seed sowing is carried out in spring, starting from April, to a depth of about 4 centimeters with a row spacing of 15 by 8 centimeters. To ensure continuous harvest, several sowings are recommended during the spring period. Harvest is carried out in June-July. Additionally, pea First-Born is an excellent source of nitrogen for the soil, making it a useful predecessor for many agricultural crops.
