Vegetable Pea Kelvedon Wonder

Early Harvest with Dutch Precision

"Kelvedon Wonder" is a classic vegetable pea variety that officially entered the Ukrainian state register in 2025. Originating from the Netherlands, its primary advantage lies in the perfect balance between compact growth and high productivity. Unlike many tall-growing varieties, "Kelvedon Wonder" features a short stem, which significantly simplifies field management and harvesting while minimizing the risk of lodging.

Vegetation and Flowering Traits

As an early-maturing variety, it is the ideal choice for growers aiming for the first market-ready harvest. The plant is characterized by the complete absence of anthocyanin coloration, a key indicator of genetic purity. Key morphological features include:

• Flowering: Early onset with white flower standards, making the variety visually distinct.
• Fruiting: Up to two flowers per node, ensuring consistent pod set.
• Foliage: Medium-sized leaflets with moderate green intensity and characteristic spotting on the stipules.

The long peduncle, with an extended distance from the stem to the first pod, provides easy access to the pods, making manual harvesting efficient. Simultaneously, the short distance between the first and second pod allows the plant to concentrate its energy on developing high-quality grain.

Why Choose This Variety?

"Kelvedon Wonder" is designed for those who value predictability and quality. Due to its short stem and balanced development, it is perfectly suited for both small-scale gardens and intensive vegetable farming. The absence of stem fasciation ensures uniform plant growth, while the broad leaflets provide efficient photosynthesis even under moderate weather conditions. This is a choice for professionals seeking reliable Dutch genetics adapted to modern agricultural standards.
