The vegetable pea hybrid "Megasize," registered in Ukraine in 2025 by SPARK SEEDS, is designed for early-season production. Its key agronomic advantage is a very early flowering stage, allowing the crop to mature before the onset of extreme summer heat, which preserves the quality and tenderness of the peas.

Growth Management and Care

"Megasize" is characterized by a compact plant structure with short stems and a limited number of nodes. This morphological trait allows for higher planting densities compared to traditional varieties. To maximize yield, consider the following:

• Sowing: Plant as early as soil temperatures reach +5°C to +8°C. The short stem reduces the risk of lodging, but uniform seed spacing is essential to ensure each plant has sufficient access to light and nutrients.
• Irrigation: Water management is critical during the flowering and pod-filling stages. Drip irrigation is highly recommended to maintain consistent soil moisture, which directly influences the size and texture of the pods.
• Nutrient Management: Focus on phosphorus and potassium application during the budding phase. Excessive nitrogen should be avoided to prevent over-vegetation, as the hybrid is genetically programmed for a compact, efficient growth habit.

With its white flowers and lack of anthocyanin coloration, "Megasize" is a classic vegetable pea type. It performs best on well-drained, fertile soils. By managing the plant's energy toward the development of two pods per node, growers can achieve a uniform and high-quality harvest.
