About product
A late-maturing vegetable pea variety of Ukrainian origin, known for its high yield potential and stable pod formation.
Description
Agrotechnics and cultivation of the «Solodke Grono» pea variety
The «Solodke Grono» vegetable pea, registered in Ukraine in 2025, is a new variety characterized by late flowering and specific morphological traits. Successful cultivation requires strict adherence to agrotechnical standards to maximize yield.
Soil preparation and sowing
The variety performs best in fertile, well-drained soils with a neutral pH. Given its medium stem length and moderate foliage, a row spacing of 30–45 cm is recommended. This spacing ensures proper light penetration and air circulation, which is crucial for the development of leaflets and stipules, which feature a distinct, sparse spotting pattern.
Care during growth stages
- Germination to Budding: During this phase, moisture management is essential. Regular inter-row cultivation is necessary to prevent soil crusting, which can hinder the development of the medium-length stem.
- Flowering: As a late-flowering variety, «Solodke Grono» requires careful monitoring for pests. Since the plant forms up to two flowers per node, it is vital to provide micronutrients, particularly boron, to ensure successful pollination and fruit set.
- Pod Development: The long petiole from the axil to the first leaf and the short distance between pods require precision during mechanical operations to avoid damaging the plant structure. Consistent irrigation during the pod-filling stage is critical for high-quality produce.
The absence of anthocyanin coloration in both the stem and flowers serves as a key identifying feature for this variety, ensuring crop uniformity.
