Description CHIKA
The vegetable pea variety CHIKA is an early-maturing shelling culture suitable for both canning and fresh consumption. The period from full emergence to the beginning of technical maturity is 55-63 days. The plant is of medium height — the stem reaches 80-90 cm, with green leaves and small stipules with spotting. Flowers are of medium size, white or cream-colored. Pods are 7-8 cm long and 1.2-1.4 cm wide at technical maturity, having a green color with a parchment layer. The attachment height of lower pods varies from 25 to 42 cm. The yield of green peas from pods is about 45%, and the peas differ in intense green color and size uniformity. Seeds are strongly wrinkled with green cotyledons; the mass of 1000 seeds is 180-210 g.

The CHIKA variety is distinguished by high yield — from 43 to 63 centners per hectare, which significantly exceeds the indicators of standard varieties. It has excellent taste qualities; the peas remain sweet for a long time. Moreover, the variety is resistant to soil waterlogging and root rots, which increases its endurance and reliability when grown in various conditions. Before flowering, regular watering with an interval of about 7 days is recommended, and after bud appearance — twice a week, which contributes to the formation of a quality crop.

For growing the CHIKA variety, it is recommended to prepare the soil, level it, and make shallow furrows with an interval between seeds of about 6 cm. After sowing, the seeds are covered with soil and slightly compacted. Regular soil moistening is an important condition for successful growth and fruiting, as peas develop poorly in dry soil. The variety forms up to 14 nodes up to the first inflorescence, and about 9 peas are contained in each pod, which ensures high productivity and fruit quality.
