Tulip Toscana

Stability and Aesthetics for Commercial Cultivation

The 'Toscana' tulip, a late-blooming single variety, is a top choice for growers aiming for high-quality, high-marketability cut flowers. This variety is ideal for planning supply schedules in the second half of the spring season, when market demand favors large, impressive, classic-shaped blooms.

Biological Resilience as a Cost-Reduction Tool

The primary challenge in tulip production is high vulnerability to soil-borne pathogens. 'Toscana' stands out from many alternatives due to its comprehensive disease resistance. Integrating this variety into crop rotations allows farmers to:

• Reduce the number of fungicide applications against Verticillium and Fusarium wilt.
• Lower crop loss risks related to Cladosporium in high-humidity conditions.
• Minimize the spread of Tobacco Mosaic Virus within dense plantings.

This resistance makes the variety a reliable solution for farms operating in open fields or greenhouses with intensive substrate cycles, where pathogen pressure is typically higher.

Agronomy and Commercial Features

As a representative of the mid-season bloom group, 'Toscana' demonstrates excellent growth vigor. The plant reaches a significant height, which is a decisive factor for professional bouquet arrangements. The delicate, pure pink petal shade is highly sought after in floristry as a staple color for spring compositions. The strong, tall stem facilitates efficient mechanical harvesting while maintaining the density and structural integrity of the flower cup during shipping and handling.
