Tulip Tosca

Triumph Tulip 'Tosca': A Reliable Choice for Commercial Production

The 'Tosca' tulip, belonging to the classic Triumph class, is highly valued by growers for its structural integrity and reliable blooming cycle. Known for its distinct red and lilac petals, this medium-height cultivar offers an excellent balance between decorative appeal and agricultural resilience, making it a staple for mid-season production schedules.

Field Performance and Disease Resistance

For commercial farms, minimizing crop loss is critical. 'Tosca' is distinguished by its robust genetic resistance to several common pathogens that often affect bulb quality and overall plant health. Specifically, this variety shows excellent tolerance against:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis and Phoma leaf spots;
• Rust diseases.

This high level of resistance allows growers to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, effectively lowering production costs while maintaining high-quality stems ready for the market.

Practical Applications

Agronomists and greenhouse managers select 'Tosca' for its predictable growth pattern and sturdy stems, which are ideal for automated harvesting processes. Since it falls into the medium-height category, it is perfectly suited for bulk bouquet preparation and wholesale trade. Whether grown in soil beds or forcing containers, 'Tosca' provides a stable, consistent yield with minimal intervention, allowing for streamlined operations during the peak of the flower season.
