Tulip Avignon

Crop Stability and Pathogen Resistance

The 'Avignon' tulip belongs to the Simple Late category and is a premier choice for commercial growers focusing on late-season cut flowers. Its primary value lies in its high resistance to a complex of pathogens that typically impact tulip profitability. The cultivar exhibits robust field resistance to Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, Cladosporium, and Tobacco mosaic virus, significantly simplifying integrated pest management programs and reducing fungicide costs.

Practical Scenarios for Agribusiness

Due to its specific genetics, this variety is ideal for several professional objectives:

• Extending the Cutting Season: Its late blooming period allows growers to fill market demand for orange tulips when early varieties have already been harvested.
• High-Yield Cultivation: With a tall stem and strong structure, 'Avignon' is well-suited for both open-field and greenhouse production, facilitating mechanized handling.
• Risk Mitigation: Exceptional disease resistance makes it a reliable choice for sites with intensive turnover, where soil-borne pathogens are a critical threat.

The vibrant orange color provides high aesthetic appeal, valued by florists for professional arrangements. The tall stature ensures the professional cut quality required for premium market standards. By selecting 'Avignon', growers minimize losses caused by diseases, ensuring consistent marketability and a predictable harvest window.
