Chrysanthemum Two Colors

Breeding and Genetic Background

The 'Dva Kolory' chrysanthemum is a product of professional selection conducted at the M.M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. This cultivar was developed to thrive in moderate climate zones, focusing on robustness and ornamental stability. Its genetic profile is optimized for early autumn blooming, ensuring that the plant maximizes its aesthetic output before the onset of extreme winter temperatures.

Morphological Features and Plant Architecture

Classified as a medium-sized plant (30-60 cm), 'Dva Kolory' maintains a compact and self-supporting structure. This eliminates the need for complex maintenance or structural staking, making it an efficient choice for large-scale landscaping projects. The plant’s architecture is specifically designed to manage structural loads during the flowering peak.

• Flowering Characteristics: The small-flowered variety (up to 5 cm) produces a high density of blooms. The flowering phase lasts for over 40 days, starting in September, which provides a long-lasting visual impact in any garden setting.
• Light Requirements: To maintain color saturation and bud density, the plant requires full sun exposure. Adequate light is a critical factor for successful photosynthesis and flower production in this cultivar.
• Winter Hardiness: The variety exhibits high frost resistance, which is vital for outdoor cultivation across various regions of Ukraine without requiring intensive overwintering protection.

Agricultural Utility and Application

With a flexible planting window (spring and autumn), 'Dva Kolory' adapts well to different soil management schedules. The spring planting strategy focuses on developing vegetative mass, while autumn planting facilitates root system establishment. Beyond its primary use as a decorative garden element, its high-quality stems make it suitable for cut flower arrangements, providing longevity and structural integrity for professional floral design.
