Tulip SOUTH NIGHT

Technical Potential of the Variety

The 'Yuzhnaya Noch' (Southern Night) tulip is a product of breeding efforts by the Federal Research Center 'Subtropical Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.' Bred in a specific, challenging climate, this variety exhibits high adaptability to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. From a physiological standpoint, this hybrid is designed primarily for professional cut flower production in protected ground environments.

Morphological Features and Durability

• Pigmentation: The deep violet hue of the petals is achieved through a high concentration of anthocyanins. The color remains stable even under intense light exposure, which is critical for maintaining commercial appeal in retail channels.
• Stem Structure: The plant features balanced peduncle geometry. The stem is characterized by high stiffness and resistance to lodging, which minimizes mechanical damage during transportation and post-harvest handling.
• Post-Harvest Characteristics: 'Yuzhnaya Noch' demonstrates excellent turgor retention after harvesting. The density of the petals allows the bloom to maintain its bud structure throughout extended storage in refrigerated chambers.

This variety serves as a specialized tool for growers focusing on the aesthetics of dark-colored blooms within their assortment. The breeding process prioritized not only the visual impact but also the efficiency of the harvesting process: the cut remains clean, and the peduncle is not prone to fracturing at the growth nodes, significantly streamlining labor on the plantation.
