Tulip Gorilla

Fringed Hybrid Status

The 'Gorilla' tulip is a standout representative of the fringed class, highly regarded in both professional greenhouse production and decorative gardening. Developed to achieve a perfect balance between its striking, jagged petal edges and commercial reliability, the variety has established itself as a hallmark of exotic floral design.

Agronomic Profile

Classified as a mid-season flowering variety, 'Gorilla' features a sturdy, medium-height stem that makes it an excellent candidate for shipping and retail logistics. The variety is particularly valued by agronomists for its built-in genetic resilience to major pathogens, including:

• Tobacco mosaic virus;
• Fusarium wilt;
• Cladosporium;
• Root rot.

This resistance ensures consistent crop health and reduces the need for intensive chemical treatments. The dense, deep purple petals hold their shape exceptionally well, providing high market value throughout the blooming window.

Market Positioning

In the contemporary cut-flower market, the 'Gorilla' tulip is positioned as a premium choice for high-end floristry. Its distinctive visual profile, combined with impressive vase life, makes it a staple for floral boutiques. Whether grown for professional forcing or spring landscapes, 'Gorilla' offers the predictability that modern growers demand, ensuring a reliable supply of top-tier, vibrant purple flowers.
