Tulip Blue Parrot

Exotic Aesthetics of Late-Season Blooms

The Blue Parrot tulip is a recognized classic among parrot varieties, distinguished primarily by its unique, ruffled petal structure. Unlike its rigid, cup-shaped counterparts, this variety displays a wild, fringed aesthetic reminiscent of tropical bird plumage. Its deep violet hue with a subtle bluish sheen makes it a favorite among landscape designers who seek to add dramatic flair to the spring garden.

Key Features and Resilience

• Late Bloom: Flowering occurs in the second half of May, extending the decorative season well after most early bulbs have faded.
• Health Profile: A notable resistance to Fusarium wilt is a critical advantage for professional growers, as this disease often compromises bulbous plants in high-humidity conditions.
• Growth Habits: The plant features tall stems (up to 50-60 cm), making it an ideal candidate for premium-segment cut flowers and sophisticated floral arrangements.

Pros and Cons

The primary appeal of the Blue Parrot is its physical texture. When cut, it remains stable, and the petals do not shed prematurely. However, due to its large, heavy blooms with fringed edges, the variety is sensitive to strong winds and prolonged rain, which can cause the tall stems to lean. It is best suited for sheltered areas or spots with partial protection from the elements.

This variety is an optimal choice for collectors of exotic forms and commercial producers focused on designer floral markets. Its striking aesthetic and robust immunity more than justify the need for strategic site selection.
