Tulip Humilis

Botanical Heritage: The Tulipa humilis

Tulipa humilis is not just another ornamental variety; it is a botanical tulip with deep roots in the rugged terrains of Iran and Turkey. Unlike mass-market hybrids designed for ephemeral vase life, the 'Humilis' is built for resilience and longevity, making it a favorite for perennial garden installations.

Performance and Health Profile

In the field, 'Humilis' stands out due to its robust health profile. It has demonstrated significant genetic resistance to common bulb pathogens, including downy mildew (peronospora), phomopsis, phoma, and sunflower rust. This natural immunity reduces the need for fungicide interventions, making it an excellent candidate for low-maintenance landscaping.

• Blooming Phase: Early season, effectively signaling the end of winter.
• Aesthetics: Vibrant violet petals that retain color intensity.
• Growth Habit: Dwarf structure, perfect for rock gardens and borders.

Because it thrives on minimal intervention, this variety is perfect for naturalizing. Once established, it requires no annual digging, forming dense, self-sustaining colonies that return year after year. For landscape architects, it offers a reliable, low-growing solution that withstands harsh weather conditions without losing its structural integrity.
