Tulip Burgundy

Refined Elegance: Why the 'Burgund' Lily-Flowered Tulip Stands Out

The 'Burgund' tulip is a top choice for those who prioritize grace and color intensity. Belonging to the lily-flowered class, this cultivar is distinguished by its elongated, pointed petals that gracefully curve outward, mimicking the silhouette of a lily bloom. Its deep, rich violet hue remains vibrant even under intense sunlight, making it a sophisticated addition to any garden palette.

Disease Resistance as a Competitive Edge

What truly sets 'Burgund' apart from standard late-blooming varieties is its innate hardiness. Agronomic data confirms its robust resistance to a complex of major fungal diseases, which are often the bane of tulip cultivation:

• Alternaria leaf spot;
• Macrosporium infection;
• Phytophthora (blight).

This genetic vigor makes it a reliable performer even in soils where fungal pressure might hinder less resilient varieties. With its medium height, it serves as an excellent structural element in both mixed borders and as a centerpiece in cut-flower arrangements.

Gardening Strategy

Since 'Burgund' blooms late in the season, it acts as a grand finale to the spring floral display, effectively bridging the gap between spring and summer perennials.

Key Strengths: exceptional bulb health, unique floral geometry, and deep saturation. Considerations: As with many late-flowering tulips, adequate moisture in the late spring is essential to ensure strong bulb development for the following year.

This variety is ideal for both commercial growers and dedicated gardeners looking to minimize chemical interventions while achieving high-end aesthetic results.
