Tulip Cummins

The Elegance of Late Blooming

The Cummins tulip holds a firm status as one of the most recognizable representatives of the fringed class. Developed by Dutch breeders, this variety has become a classic choice for late spring garden design and landscaping. Its primary visual distinction is the expressive needle-like fringe along the petal edges, creating a striking "ice lace" effect.

Visual Profile and Specifications

• Class: Fringed.
• Bloom Time: Late season (May).
• Height: Tall variety.
• Palette: Deep purple center transitioning into a crisp, contrasting white border.

This color contrast makes Cummins an ideal solution for formal flower beds and mixed borders. Thanks to its sturdy stem, the variety exhibits excellent resistance to lodging, which is critical for tall tulips during the unpredictable weather of the late spring. In the bulb market, this variety is valued for its consistency: it delivers predictable results in forcing and maintains its shape exceptionally well as a cut flower.

Cultivation Tips

To fully unlock the potential of this variety, it is recommended to plant bulbs in fertile, well-drained soil in sunny locations. Cummins does not tolerate waterlogging, so a drainage layer is advisable in heavy soils. In landscape design, it is most effective in group plantings, where the density highlights the unique texture of its fringed petals.
