Kornet

The winter triticale variety «Kornet» is a high-winter-hardy and drought-resistant grain plant created by breeders of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «DZNIIISKh». It is characterized by a medium plant height of 85 to 120 cm and a white, fully awned ear with sparse pubescence. The grain is of medium size, oval in shape, and light red in color, with a 1000-seed weight ranging from 42 to 53 grams. The vegetation period lasts from 243 to 307 days, corresponding to a medium ripening period. The variety belongs to the Eritrospermum type and was approved for production in 2006. «Kornet» boasts high yield with a productivity potential exceeding 100 centners per hectare, with yields varying from 42.9 to 63.8 centners/ha in different regions. The grain contains up to 12% protein, making it in demand in the food industry, for baking and confectionery production, as well as for compound feed preparation. Thanks to its qualities, the variety is widely used in fermentation production and other branches of the food industry. The variety is resistant to major diseases and pests, including powdery and solid bunt, powdery mildew, yellow and brown rust, as well as fusariums. It is adapted for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatka, Central-Black Earth, North Caucasian, and Middle Volga regions. To achieve optimal results, agronomy involves sowing in the second half of the optimal period with a sowing rate of about 4 million viable seeds per hectare.
