Hongor is a new spring wheat variety included in the Ukrainian State Register of Varieties in 2023. It was created through a hybrid combination of Raritet/HAD 7 and is characterized by an alternative development type and a suberitrospermum variety. Plants reach a height of about 105 cm, featuring a spindle-shaped, dense, and long ear with short awns located in the upper half of the ear. The grain is large, elongated, yellow-white in color, and well-filled. The variety is medium-late maturing when sown in autumn and late-maturing when sown in spring, possessing high winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as high resistance to lodging and diseases. The fodder and bread-making qualities of the Hongor variety's grain are excellent. The grain contains 15.0% protein, 4.10 mg/kg of carotene, and 24.8% gluten. The gluten deformation index is 60 arbitrary points, and the flour strength is 216 arbitrary units. The volumetric bread yield reaches 708 ml, and the overall bread-making rating is 9 points, indicating the high quality of the flour and bread obtained from this variety. The Hongor variety is distinguished by high grain yield, which averaged 10.84 t/ha over five years of trials on black soil when sown in autumn. It is successfully cultivated in Kalmykia and neighboring regions of Russia, where the application of mineral fertilizers in optimal doses is recommended to achieve maximum productivity, considering the features of light chestnut soils. Due to its agronomic characteristics and adaptability, Hongor is a promising variety for agricultural production.
