SARGAU

SARGAU is a winter triticale variety developed by the N.I. Vavilov Saratov State Agricultural University and included in the register for use in the Lower Volga region. This grain-fodder variety is characterized by a medium maturity period with a vegetative period ranging from 283 to 309 days. Plants reach a height of 82 to 120 cm, possess good winter hardiness and lodging resistance at the level of standards. The mass of a thousand grains varies from 39.8 to 47.9 grams, indicating high grain quality. The variety demonstrates resistance to brown rust, which enhances its reliability in the region's agronomic conditions. The average grain yield of the SARGAU variety in the Lower Volga region is about 24.8 centners per hectare, confirming its productivity and adaptation to local climatic conditions. Studies of promising winter triticale lines conducted in the Volga region showed yields ranging from 1.8 to 2.7 tons per hectare, with some lines exceeding standard yield indicators. This opens up possibilities for further improvement of the variety and increasing its productivity. Additionally, screening of lines by grain quality was conducted, which allowed recommending individual lines for creating genetic potential aimed at improving the baking properties of triticale. Thus, the SARGAU variety represents a promising crop for grain-fodder production with good agronomic characteristics and potential for breeding work aimed at improving quality and yield.
