The breeding work of the Mazlumov All-Russian Research Institute of Sugar Beet and Sugar is synonymous with high technological standards. The RIF 12 pea variety is the institute's answer to the demand for a crop resistant to a complex of dangerous pathogens. This variety belongs to the semi-leafless (tendrilled) type, which significantly simplifies harvesting and reduces grain loss in the field.

Biological traits and protection

The main advantage of RIF 12 is its genetic resistance to diseases that annually threaten legume yields:

• High tolerance to fusarium and ascochyta blight.
• Resistance to dwarf viruses and other viral plant diseases.

Such phytosanitary reliability allows agronomists to reduce the number of chemical treatments, making production more cost-effective. The variety maintains stable quality parameters: protein content ranges between 22–24%, and the thousand-seed weight is 220–240 grams, which is an excellent metric for commercial peas.
