BOTANICAL 4

The spring triticale variety Botanicheskaya 4 is a hexaploid grain variety developed through extensive research by scientists at the Main Botanical Garden named after N.V. Tsitsin of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology. It successfully passed state variety testing in 2020-2021 and was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements, confirming its high breeding qualities. In 2023, a patent for this breeding achievement is planned, indicating its innovativeness and significance for agriculture.

Botanicheskaya 4 is characterized by early-medium flowering time and an intermediate, semi-erect bush type. Plants are medium to tall in height, with a distinct waxy bloom on the sheath of the flag leaf and strong pubescence on the stem neck. The head is white at maturity, of medium length and density, fully awned with long awns above the tip. Morphological features include the absence of pubescence on the outer surface of the glume and short glume teeth. The spikelet cross-section shows weak to medium prominence.

The variety demonstrates high productivity and adaptability in various regions. In the Central region, the average grain yield was 37.5 c/ha, which is 4.3 c/ha higher than the standard, with a maximum yield of 74.5 c/ha achieved in the Ryazan region. In the Volga-Vyatka region, the average yield was 41.4 c/ha, with an increase over the standard of 4.7 c/ha and a maximum yield of 74.9 c/ha in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 36.6 to 39 g, indicating good grain quality and nutritional value.
