KONTAL is a timothy variety that ensures high dry matter yield throughout the entire season. Already in early spring it gives significant growth, and then maintains a stable production level during early and late summer as well as autumn. Thanks to its non-aggressiveness and favorable morphology, KONTAL easily blends with other grasses, creating balanced mixes for forage meadows.
The variety is distinguished by winter hardiness, drought resistance and disease resistance. It grows well on heavy and medium-silty soils, and is also suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions due to its trampling tolerance. When sown as a monoculture, KONTAL can yield up to 9 tons of dry matter per hectare, and in grass mixtures – up to 10 tons.
KONTAL is often used as one of the key components of forage mixtures, for example, in VersaMax Robust. In such a mixture it accounts for about 15% and ensures feedpalatability and feed quality for livestock.
