MARUSINSKAYA 297 is a variety of meadow timothy (Phleum pratense L.), developed by OHO "Morshanskaya Breeding Station". The variety was approved for use in 1948 and is widely used as a fodder crop. It is characterized by a high protein content of up to 14% and a green mass yield reaching 200 c/ha.
The fodder qualities of Marusinskaya 297 make it popular for green feed, hay, and silage preparation. The plant quickly gains mass, forming a dense turf, which ensures resistance to trampling. Due to its good tolerance to low mowing, the variety is often used as lawn grass.
Meadow timothy is sun-loving and easy to care for, but it does not withstand prolonged drought well. The variety is suitable for cultivation in various regions where it was approved for use, including central and Middle Volga areas. Marusinskaya 297 can also serve as a predecessor for other crops due to its resilience and good agronomic characteristics.
