Japola — is a single-seed triploid F1 hybrid sugar beet, intended for cultivation in regions with climatic zones 5, 6, 7, and 9, particularly recommended for the North Caucasus region and Stavropol Krai. This medium-maturing hybrid is characterized by high yield and sugar content. In Stavropol Krai, the average root yield reaches 469 c/ha with 20% sugar content, significantly exceeding standard varieties. The root mass is approximately 485–571 grams, and sugar harvest reaches 94 c/ha, indicating the hybrid’s high potential.
The plant features an oval-conical root shape with 85% root depth in the soil, and a medium-sized, dark green, spreading leaf rosette. Japola exhibits drought resistance, cold tolerance, and resistance to major diseases such as cercospora and root rot, ensuring good storability and stable yields. Thanks to its well-developed root system capable of absorbing moisture from depths up to 2.5 meters, the hybrid effectively withstands dry conditions.
Sugar beet Japola is a heat-loving and heat-tolerant crop, with an optimal temperature for growth and development of 20–22°C, although photosynthesis successfully occurs even at temperatures above 40°C. Adequate moisture is crucial for successful cultivation, especially during the intensive root growth period in July–August. Water deficiency may lead to increased nitrogen content in roots, negatively affecting product quality. Japola is recommended for mid-season harvest, allowing maximum utilization of its potential.
