Sugar beet HAMBUR

Consistent Yield with Disease Resistance

The 'Humber' sugar beet hybrid from Lion Seeds is a classic triploid variety designed for farms seeking a balance between high productivity and management efficiency. Belonging to the normal sugar-content type (NZ), this hybrid demonstrates a stable sugar level in the 17-19% range, making it a predictable choice for processing facilities.

Agronomic Advantages

The core strength of 'Humber' lies in its comprehensive resistance profile. In intensive farming, where pathogens can destroy a significant portion of the yield before harvest, this hybrid acts as a reliable safeguard. Key strengths include:

• Phytosanitary Potential: Genetic resistance to black root rot (Aphanomyces cochlioides) allows for optimal sowing timing without fear of seedling failure. Active defense against Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew reduces the number of fungicide applications, optimizing production costs.
• Operational Efficiency: The medium size of the root crop is ideal for mechanized harvesting across various soil types.
• Stability: Triploid genetics ensure crop uniformity and predictable performance.

If your cultivation strategy prioritizes minimizing risks associated with field diseases, 'Humber' is an optimal solution. It does not chase record-breaking sugar content at the expense of mass; instead, it offers the grower a 'golden mean'—a quality root with excellent storage indicators and consistent sugar accumulation.

Who should choose 'Humber'? Primarily farms operating in regions prone to leaf spot diseases. Where other hybrids require aggressive chemical protection, this variety keeps its canopy healthy until the end of the vegetation period, ensuring that the sugar accumulation process reaches its full potential.
