Sugar beet Jarysa

Technological Architecture of the Yarisa Hybrid

In developing the Yarisa hybrid, the Polish breeding center KHBC Sp. z o.o. focused on optimizing metabolic processes within the root. The development is rooted in selective breeding aimed at maintaining stability in sugar content across diverse soil and climatic conditions.

Root Morphology and Physiology

The oval-conical shape of the root is an engineering solution that strikes a balance between soil depth penetration and ease of mechanical harvesting. The geometry of Yarisa minimizes losses during leaf topping and reduces soil tare when fed into sugar beet harvesters.

• Root System: Developed to efficiently utilize moisture from deep soil horizons, which is critical in conditions of erratic precipitation.
• Biochemical Profile: The high potential for sugar accumulation is combined with uniformity in root mass, simplifying logistics and primary processing at sugar refineries.
• Resilience: The KHBC breeding program integrates comprehensive measures against common pathogens prevalent in the beet-growing regions of Central and Eastern Europe.

The practical value of Yarisa lies in its yield predictability. The hybrid's agrotechnical adaptability allows for its use in intensive farming systems, where the key performance factor is the efficient conversion of nutrients into commercial sugar mass.
