SR 74 M

SR 74 M is a sugar beet hybrid with high resistance to adverse conditions such as drought and cold. The plant is of medium height with a semi-spreading leaf rosette and a medium-sized leaf blade with a moderately corrugated structure. The root system is taproot and penetrates to a depth of 2-2.5 meters, which promotes good nutrition and plant stability. The vegetation period ranges from 120 to 150 days, allowing the hybrid to adapt to various climatic conditions. The root crop of SR 74 M has a cylinder-cone or oval-cone shape with a relatively smooth surface, which reduces soil adhesion during harvesting. The average weight of the root crop ranges from 700 to 838 grams. The hybrid is resistant to diseases such as cercosporosis, powdery mildew, root crop rots, and has moderate resistance to root eelworm. This makes the crop reliable for cultivation in various regions. SR 74 M is widely used for technical purposes for sugar and molasses production, as well as in cooking - for making borscht and kvass. Additionally, the crop is used as a waste-free fodder crop. Sugar beet seeds can germinate at temperatures from +5°C, with an optimal growth temperature of 13-15°C. Sugar content in the root crops of the hybrid reaches 17-20%, which ensures high sweetness and yield with sufficient lighting.
