SIU is a sugar beet hybrid developed and registered for cultivation in the Middle Volga region. The plant is characterized by medium height and leaves of a rich green color. The root crop reaches an average mass of about 725 grams, contributing to high yields of 643.2 centners per hectare. Sugar content in the roots reaches 16.4%, making this hybrid especially attractive for sugar production. In field trials, the hybrid demonstrated disease resistance, ensuring crop stability and reducing loss risks.
Sugar beet in general is a biennial root crop grown primarily for sugar production, as well as for molasses, pulp, and feed production. This root crop is rich in B group, PP, and C vitamins, and also contains important trace elements such as iodine, magnesium, iron, copper, calcium, and phosphorus. In addition, the beet contains bioflavonoids, pectins, and betaine, making it not only a valuable raw material for the food industry but also a useful product from a nutrition standpoint.
The choice of a suitable variety or hybrid of sugar beet, such as SIU, depends on the climatic and soil conditions of the growing region. High yield and sugar content make this hybrid in demand among agricultural producers. Due to its characteristics, SIU contributes to efficient farming and maintains the sugar industry at a high level.
