Brandon is a high-yielding hybrid sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.) belonging to the late-ripening sweet type. The plant is characterized by a tall growth form with semi-erect leaves and a narrow, long leaf blade of medium color intensity and glossiness. The root crop has a wide-conical shape of medium length, with a mass of about 695 g and is buried in the soil no more than 90%. The leaf rosette is tall, with a long petiole of medium thickness, and the leaf is smooth with pronounced waviness along the edges.
The hybrid is distinguished by high yield and product quality. Average root crop yield reaches 641 c/ha, with a sugar content of 18.5%, which ensures sugar collection at the level of 118.2 c/ha. Maximum root crop yield indicators reached up to 1152 c/ha. Brandon responds well to irrigation, which promotes rapid growth in early stages of crop development and improves technological characteristics of the root crop. The hybrid is resistant to diseases, confirmed by the absence of damage in field trials.
Recommended for growing in agro-holdings and large agricultural enterprises where high productivity and sugar quality are important. Harvesting periods vary from early to medium, allowing flexible planning of agrotechnical measures. Thanks to the technological form of the root crop and high sugar content indicators, Brandon is a profitable choice for sugar beet production.
