Description SAYENNE
SAYENNE is a mid-late diploid sugar beet hybrid intended for cultivation in various regions of the sugar beet growing zone. This single-seed first-generation hybrid is characterized by high yield and sugar content, ensuring a sugar content in roots of 17–18%. Root mass varies depending on the region and is about 500-570 grams. Plants are characterized by powerful initial growth, single-stemness, and uniformity in growth rate and habitus, which contributes to the formation of an optimal stand density in the field — 85-100 thousand plants per hectare before harvesting. The SAYENNE hybrid is resistant to a number of diseases, including ramularia and stemming, as well as having low susceptibility to root rots and cercosporosis. It demonstrates high initial growth energy and good suitability for mechanical harvesting, which facilitates agricultural works. The crop is cold-hardy, but at the same time demanding for moisture, especially during seed germination and root formation. The hybrid simultaneously has drought resistance, which makes it adaptive to various climatic conditions. For successful cultivation of SAYENNE, it is recommended to sow at a depth of 6-7 cm when the soil warms up to 6-8°C, with optimal soil acidity in the range of pH 6.5-7.5. The plant poorly tolerates high acidity, therefore it positively reacts to liming the soil. The sowing rate is 1.2-1.8 sowing units per hectare, which corresponds to 100,000 seeds per sowing unit. The best time for harvest is October; when adhering to agro-technology, up to 60 tons of selected sugar beet can be obtained from one hectare.
