Sugar beet Eldorado

Stable yield with minimal risks

When sowing the 'Eldorado' sugar beet hybrid from Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa, the primary focus is on resilience. For an agronomist facing high disease pressure, this diploid hybrid acts as a reliable insurance policy. The crop development is consistent and predictable, which simplifies the management of field operations significantly.

Phytosanitary shield

Disease control is usually the most stressful aspect of sugar beet cultivation. 'Eldorado' effectively resists major threats like Rhizoctonia and Rhizomania. During seasons when neighboring fields might suffer from Cercospora leaf spot or powdery mildew, this hybrid holds up exceptionally well. This allows for the optimization of fungicide applications, preventing premature foliage loss, which has a direct positive impact on production costs.

Root quality and harvest

Classified as a Normal (N) type, the root size is moderate, which is ideal for logistics and processing at sugar refineries. In the field, the roots are uniform, making harvesting efficient with minimal losses. Most importantly, the sugar content of 19–20% is consistently high, ensuring excellent quality for the end customer. Rot issues during storage are extremely rare, giving more flexibility when scheduling deliveries to the refinery.

Operational experience

'Eldorado' is low-maintenance. The uniformity of emergence allows for stress-free inter-row cultivation. The hybrid responds perfectly to standard fertilization protocols without requiring specialized or costly interventions.
